Preparation of the Avocado Pit
Dimensions of the Pit: Begin by preparing a pit of dimensions 1m long, 1m wide, and 1m deep, giving you a total pit size of 3x4 meters.
Ingredients for the Pit: For the base of the pit, you will require a mix of three ingredients:
Peat
Cow's feces
Cassava Residue
Ensure the ratio of these ingredients is 1:4:6 respectively.
Fermentation: Once you've mixed these ingredients thoroughly, allow the mixture to ferment in the pit for a period of 60 to 90 days. This fermentation process is essential for breaking down the materials and making the soil fertile and suitable for planting.
Choosing the Avocado Sprout: After the fermentation process, select a healthy avocado sprout that's approximately 180 days old. This ensures that it is mature and strong enough to thrive in the prepared pit.
Planting Procedure:
Dig a hole within the prepared pit that's about 9 inches deep.
Place the avocado sprout inside a garbage bag. Ensure you cut out the bottom of the bag, which will allow you to see and manage the roots more easily.
Place the sprout into the hole you've dug. Ensure the seed of the avocado sprout is slightly above the soil line, not entirely buried.
Carefully remove the garbage bag without disturbing the roots of the sprout.
Fill the hole with the prepared and fermented soil, ensuring the sprout is stable and the seed remains slightly exposed.
Watering: Once the sprout is securely planted, water it generously to give it a good start in its new environment. Ensure not to overwater, as this can be detrimental to the avocado plant.
