Pre-harvest Care of Avocados
When aiming for a high-quality avocado harvest, one cannot undermine the significance of meticulous pre-harvest care. This article delves into the organic and nature-friendly methods we employ to ensure a bountiful yield of top-notch avocados.
Importance of Pre-harvest Care:
The period before harvest plays a pivotal role in determining the final quality of the produce. Ensuring that the avocados get the best care during this phase is imperative for an exemplary harvest.
Organic Farming Methods:
Our commitment to the environment is unwavering. We strictly adhere to organic farming practices, renouncing the use of any chemicals or pesticides. This ensures that our avocados are free from harmful substances and retain their natural taste.
Addressing Insect Damages:
In the event that an avocado tree succumbs to insect damage, our approach is simple yet effective. We remove the damaged portion, followed by applying red lime tumeric over the stem of the plant. This method is beneficial in two ways:
It aids in healing and protecting the stem.
By keeping the area around the stem grass-free, we can easily detect and address any invading insects, such as worms.
Natural Pest Control:
Nature has its own checks and balances. By introducing beneficial insects such as stink bug and green lacewings, we ensure that invading species, including aphid, whitefly, and small worms, are kept at bay. This is a classic example of how we use nature to combat potential threats in a harmonious manner.
Use of Biological Substances:
BS and BT are potent biological substances that we utilize to repel insects. Every 15 days, a solution comprising 1 liter of BS, 1 liter of BT, 80 grams of sugar, and 20 liters of water is prepared. It's crucial to note that this solution should be used within 3 hours of its preparation to ensure its efficacy.
Application Process:
Our application process is thorough. We spray the aforementioned solution on both the leaves and around the stems, ensuring that the plants get comprehensive protection from potential pests.
